Wadi Rum Jordan Guide is the first eco-tourismtour of the Wadi Rum desert. It is managed by Atallah Dakhilala who works with his brothers. Abdallah and Atallah have more than 10 years of experience in tourism and are excellent climbers. Together they created the first climbing club in Jordan. Atallah Dakhilala is a member of the Bedouin tribe Al Zlabiah. Like about fifteen Bedouin families, her parents and siblings still live in the desert of Wadi Rum.
If today Atallah and his brothers lead a semi-sedentary life at the gates of the desert, in Rum Village, they remain deeply linked to their “home”. This life between the village and the desert is nonetheless authentic. They are deeply attached to the transmission of their culture and their Bedouin knowledge. Receiving tourists, introducing them to the place where they live and their way of life is also a way for them to share and perpetuate their heritage.
In the interest of Bedouin communities, they work to preserve wildlife by practising what is known as “ecotourism“. This is why Wadi Rum Jordan Guide is opposed to fixed camps. Our team works only in bivouacs, small itinerant camps that leave no trace of our passage.
